Intro

Lana’s Dance Studio offers instruction in choreographic skills, which focuses on basics of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. We try to help students develop femininity, poise, grace, self-expression and creativity. All lessons are done to appropriate musical accompaniment. The highlight of this program is the dance recital at the end of the year.

Tap

Considered to be the most American of all dance styles, tap dancing is composed of rhythmic sounds made by movements of the feet by shoes with metal plates or “taps” attached to the toes and heels. The feet are literally used like instruments to make sounds and music and students of all ages are excited to create different rhythms including their own! Tap is foremost a part of musical theatre and movies and encompasses many styles from soft-shoe, hoofing, swing, rhythm, and Broadway. Students learn about sound, rhythm, syncopation, speed, phrasing, synchronization and the use of tap as a performing art.
